Switch from LocalDB to SQL Server Edition

After installing VE, the free LocalDB database is automatically created to store the repository and allow you to discover Visual Expert's features immediately, without further configuration. When going into production, you may require a database offering higher performance.

When going into production, you may require a database offering higher performance.
You will find below the steps that will allow you to switch from Local DB to another version of SQL Server.

  • Install a new SQL Server Instance.
    If you do not have a paid version, you can install SQL Server 2019 Developer Edition. [View Guide]
  • Create a new repository and connect it to the SQL Server Instance. [View Guide]
  • Request a new License Key for the newly created repository. [View Guide]

Important:
While switching from Local DB to another SQL Server edition, data stored in LocalDB will be lost.
You will have to create a new VE project and run a new code analysis.
