Visual Expert Notifications
Notifications help users stay informed about important events across Visual Expert.
Depending on the event type and the selected settings, users can receive notifications
in the application, by email, or both. When the event supports it, a notification can
also expose a direct action, such as opening an analysis, viewing a document, or
approving a request.

Overview
- The Notifications module centralizes work item events that matter to end users,
project administrators, and reviewers.
- It reduces the risk of missing collaboration,
analysis, registration, and security events by presenting them through a consistent
notification experience.
- The module supports multiple delivery channels so that each
user can choose the most appropriate way to be informed.
Available Channels
-
In-app notifications – Displayed directly inside Visual Expert.
In VE Web, the bell icon in the top bar shows the current unread count and opens
the notification panel. In-app notifications are also available in VE Desktop.
Users manage their preferences from the My Notifications page.
-
Email notifications – Email delivery is available when SMTP is
configured by an administrator. This is useful for events that should not be missed
when the user is not currently connected to Visual Expert.

How Notifications Behave
-
Relevant recipients – Notifications are sent only to the users
concerned by the event. For example, a shared-document notification is sent to the
relevant recipient, while an approval-related event targets the appropriate reviewer
or administrator.
-
Open, review, and act – A notification can open the related item
in Visual Expert. When the event type supports it, the notification exposes a direct
action, such as Open Analysis, View Document, or
an approval action.
-
Read and unread status – A notification becomes read when the user
opens the related item or explicitly marks it as read. In VE Web, the unread counter
is reflected on the bell icon in the top bar.
-
Visual markers – Unread notifications are highlighted visually.
In VE Web, unread items are identified with a blue dot. The notification panel also
provides an Only show unread toggle so users can focus on pending
items.
-
VE Web notification center – From the notification panel, users can
review recent events, mark all notifications as read, open the notification settings
page, and use direct-action buttons such as Open Analysis when they
are available.
When a supported event occurs in Visual Expert, a notification is generated automatically
and routed to the relevant users. Depending on the event type and the enabled delivery
channels, the notification can appear in-app, be sent by email, or both. Users can then
review the notification, open the related item, or use the direct action provided by the
event when available.
Benefits
- Keep users informed about important system and project events.
-
Reduce manual monitoring by informing users automatically, rather than requiring
them to check progress, refresh screens, or search for the latest status of an
operation.
-
Support faster response for approval workflows, completed analyses, and events that
require user attention.
- Give each user control over how each event type is delivered.
