New! PowerBuilder application protection against decompilers

Any user with access to the executable file can alter your application to perform unauthorized operations. They could crack your software protection to perform illegal transactions or spread unprotected copies of your product. Both in-house and commercial applications can be affected.

PBProtect, the first obfuscator for PowerBuilder, defends against reverse engineering by generating a new version of your source code that is virtually impossible to understand. With no effect on execution time or maintenance, PBProtect’s one-click process is simple and effective.

How to Make your Web Applications Multilingual

Many companies have already found that Enable Enterprise is a cost-effective way to extend the international reach of their software. By using Enable developers can usually upgrade a monolingual PowerBuilder program with just a few changes to the original code in a matter of hours.
And now, you can also make your web applications multilingual.
A special version of Enable Engine is now available in the form of obfuscated source code. The new Engine, already fully tested on live applications, allows registered users to deploy their multilingual applications with Appeon and PB.NET (both WinForms and WebForms).

Learn more about Enable and get a trial version to see for yourself how easy it is to make your applications multilingual.

How to Control Access to PB Apps with your Windows Accounts

Visual Guard is an access control solution. It allows reusing Windows accounts to authenticate users of PowerBuilder applications. Single Sign-on is automatically implemented. End users can launch the application without giving their credentials.
Once a Windows user verified, Visual Guard applies the privileges linked to his profile and adapts the application accordingly.

PowerBuilder 11.5

New Features in PowerBuilder 11.5
I plan to make [...] a series of articles that discuss the new features in PowerBuilder 11.5, which was released late last year. Of course, they won't be the first articles we've run on the topic [...]. This series of articles is intended to discuss the major hitters of the remaining features. PBDJ article, by Bruce Armstrong
Part 1 - In the first part Bruce Armstrong looks at the Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) and the impact it had on developers.
Part 2 - In the second part Bruce Armstrong looks at a number of the improvements in GUI functionality.
Part 3 - In the third and last part Bruce Armstrong will be looking at the enhancements that were added to PowerBuilder 11.5 that are specifically related to .NET targets.

PowerBuilder 11.5 Top Feature Picks: PB 11.5 is a solid nine out of 10 in its update appeal
PowerBuilder 11.5 was released in the third quarter of 2008 and by early 2009 had made its way into many IT development shops. The draw is a significant set of enhancements that move the development experience closer to the nirvana anticipated in the PowerBuilder 12.0 release.

A New IDE - WPF Workshop
It’s the improvements to the IDE we’ve been looking for

Actually, the new IDE doesn't arrive until next year. But I thought we could start talking about it now. In case you didn't make TechWave, any of the PB 11.5 road shows or webcasts, you may not know what's planned for PowerBuilder 12.0. There's a lot that they're talking about already (and that in itself is new), but what I want to focus on is the new IDE called WPF Workshop.

PowerBuilder and .NET: Development Strategy

Nowadays .NET has become a mainstream programming platform. To be inline with PowerBuilder's .NET deployment and .NET development strategy, the PowerScript language will be enhanced to be a true CLS-compliant .NET language in PowerBuilder 12. Users will be able to consume and extend any CLS-compliant .NET resource, thereby saving them a lot of development time.
