The PowerBuilder Ecosystem

PowerBuilder Worldwide Survey
As every year, Novalys performed a survey in the use of PowerBuilder in 2009. Not only did we look at the current use of PowerBuilder but we also analyzed the impact of Java and .NET on PowerBuilder users. Java/JEE technology has been used widely for many years but Microsoft uses all its marketing power to impose its platform, rallying the Sybase capabilities to its cause…
What are the most awaited developments of PB? What proportion of PB teams adopted .NET technology in 2009? Who’s still using PB5? Who has moved to PB11? Where do you fit in?
Take the 2010 PowerBuilder survey and find out more about
2009 results.

WPF Skins
The new PowerBuilder 12.NET product utilizes the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) feature of the .NET framework version 3.5 that now allows the PB application developer to assign either Window or Application based "Skins". The skin is an XML style that can be applied to all controls within a specific Window class or to all objects within a given application.

Three extensions are already released. They allow you to organize Visual Expert to get statistical data about PowerBuilder code, list PowerBuilder scripts that use a data manipulation function, check the compatibility of your system functions and libraries with Windows 7.
